Research Metrics Toolkit

1. Access Scopus from the Library website
2. Change the Search option to Documents, and type or copy/paste the title of the book/chapter between double quotation marks ("…"). Click Search
3. View the number of citations for the document to the right of its record in the search results
4. For more information, click the title of the document and navigate to the Metrics box in the right hand column
5. Click View all Metrics to access further article level metrics such as Field Weighted Citation Impact, social media, news, blog, and Wikipedia mentions, and citation benchmarking.

1. Go to Google Scholar
2. Type or copy/paste the title of the article, conference paper, or book/chapter between double quotation marks ("…"). Hit Enter or click the Search button
3. View the number of citations for the document underneath its record in the search results. Web of Science Core Collection citations are also listed.

1. Access the Book Citation Index through the Web of Science
2. Type or copy and paste the title of the book into the search box, and click Search. To minimise irrelevant results, it may be helpful to place the title between double quotation marks - e.g., "Diabetes education"
3. Times cited will appear to the right of each search result.

WorldCat lets you search the collections of thousands of libraries around the world through one central catalogue.

1. Access WorldCat
2. To search for a book, change the tab at the top of the search box to Books
3. Type or copy and paste the title of the book into the search box, and click Search. To minimise irrelevant results, it may be helpful to place the title between double quotation marks - e.g., "Diabetes education"
4. Click on the title of the book, and scroll down to Find a copy in the library to see library holdings.

Trove lets you search the collections of Australian libraries, museums, archives, and repositories through one central catalogue.

1. Access Trove
2. Type or copy and paste the title of the book into the search box and click Search. To minimise irrelevant results, it may be helpful to place the title between double quotation marks - e.g., "Diabetes education"
3. Click on the title of the book, and select the correct edition if necessary
4. Scroll down to Get this edition, and select the Borrow tab to see library holdings.

To search for book reviews:

1. Access Library Search from the Library search box
2. Ensure the search box tab is set to Search (not Catalogue) - this will allow the searching of many library databases concurrently
3. Type or copy and paste the title of the book into the search box and click Search. To minimise irrelevant results, it may be helpful to place the title between double quotation marks - e.g., "Diabetes education"
4. In the left hand limiting panel, scroll down to Source types and select Reviews.
