OpenAthens: your new, more secure way to access Library e-Resources!

by The Library on 2025-02-18T11:11:34+11:00 | 0 Comments

We are excited to announce that the OpenAthens system is live today! This new system replaces ezproxy for remote access to our subscribed electronic resources.

What’s being updated?

  • Starting today, links to resources from the Library website, in reading lists, the Library catalogue, and in subject guides are being updated.
  • Old links with the ezproxy.uws.edu.au prefix will still work for a short period while we finalise the transition.

What do you need to do?

  • You will need to update any links you may have saved to library e-Resources in your main pages in vUWS sites, EndNote libraries, webpages, or bookmarks. You can identify these by looking at the URL to see if it contains ezproxy.uws.edu.au. You have until the end of June to update links.
  • Use the Link convertor on the Library OpenAthens webpage to create an OpenAthen URL.
  • Most personal accounts set up in Library e-Resources will be automatically updated. However, if you have accounts set up in Proquest eBook Central or EbscoHOST, you will need to initiate a process to move these over as well. Instructions are available via the Library OpenAthens webpage.

Need help?

If you notice any links not working, whether you're on campus, at home, or using a mobile device, please contact the Library so we can investigate and resolve the issue.
