Did you know there is an exhibition space on the ground floor of the Kingswood campus library?
Western students and staff are invited to showcase their creative work that may be related to their studies or research.
Currently, on display is the Smiling Girl Series by Louisa Chan who is a postgraduate Art Therapy student at Western.
“Shanghai Escape” by Louisa Chan, one of the paintings part of the Smiling Girl series.
In her artwork, Louisa delves into themes of personal identity, cultural heritage, colour and the kaleidoscopic beauty of the natural world. As an Australian born Chinese artist, Louisa has been able to honour her heritage and foster connections with those who resonate with similar experiences.
Inspired by the rich art of different cultures, Louisa’s artwork is brought to life with a combination of acrylic and oil paints. Her adept use of impasto techniques adds layers of depth and tactile quality to each piece.
Seize the opportunity to view her pieces in person at the Kingswood Library ground floor, situated behind the service desk and near the lifts.
Open to all on weekdays, 8:00am-5:00pm.
Open exclusively to Western staff, students and alumni on weekends, 11:00am-4:00pm.
