The Australian Human Rights Commission is the new name of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. The Commission was established in 1986 by an act of the federal Parliament. It is an independent statutory organisation, reporting to the federal Parliament through the Attorney-General.
AIATSIS is the world’s premier institution for information and research about the cultures and lifestyles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, past and present. The Institute undertakes and encourages scholarly, ethical community-based research, holds a collection of films, photographs, video and audio recordings and the world’s largest collections of printed and other resource materials for Indigenous Studies, and has its own publishing house.
First Nations People assists Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (First Nations) people with a disability, or who have experienced violence, abuse neglect or exploitation. Also applies to families, friends, and support people of First Nations people with disability.
The Lowitja Institute is a collaborative research organisation that brings together Aboriginal organisations, research institutions and government agencies to facilitate evidence-based research into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
